«Many of America's most vulnerable children have missed nearly 740 million school meals due to a school closure to help prevent the rapid spread of the coronavirus,» writes the actress. «As parents lose their jobs and their income, many of these children lack food.»

Known for her humanitarian battles, the actress calls for an increase in the help given to these families by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, «which provides food stamps to people in the need.

«Strengthening (support from) SNAP will not alleviate the challenges faced by low-income families during this period of health emergency, but will help ensure that fewer children go to bed hungry in this country.»

Also according to USA Today, the United States Congress has increased food aid by $ 15 billion due to the pandemic, but Angelina Jolie and activists believe that an additional effort is necessary.

Angelina Jolie has spoken on several occasions since the start of the crisis. In her chronicles for Time Magazine, she notably urged citizens to be attentive to the signs of mistreatment that could be the victims of confined children, and sent a message of support to parents who have to take care of their families during a pandemic.
