Coronavirus is rife worldwide and affects many people. Among them, celebrities are not spared.

Boris Johnson, Patrick Bruel and Tom Hanks are among those who contracted COVID-19 and who survived the disease. Others were less fortunate ... this is particularly the case for singer Christophe, who died on April 16, and British rapper Ty on Thursday, May 7.

Ben Chijioke, better known by the pseudonym Ty, died at the age of 47 from the consequences of the coronavirus. He was hospitalized very quickly after being tested positive and placed on an artificial coma. Unfortunately, the rapper never recovered and died in his hospital bed.

And yet his whole family had hoped to find him! Ty had woken up and been fully aware in mid-April, which had given his loved ones hope. Unfortunately, his condition then deteriorated to the point of losing his life ... Because of his weakness, he contracted pneumonia that his body could not fight.

It was Diane Laidlaw who taught us the terrible details of the singer's illness. Diane Laidlaw is the person who organized the fundraiser to support Ty's loved ones. Today £ 20,000 has been raised.

«The family would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has come to their aid and expressed concern since their admission to the hospital, but now they would appreciate their privacy being respected so that they can grieve in privacy, «wrote Diane Laidlaw on the fundraising site.

Ty was considered by many to be a «pioneer of British hip-hop». This is in particular what the actor Idris Elba (who also contracted the coronavirus also) wrote on one of his Instagram publications.

«Rest in peace Ty, pioneer of British hip-hop. I am broken by this news. I remember when we had a song together somewhere in south London, when I was filming the first season of Luther , and that we had talked a lot about The Wire. My prayers go out to your family. «can be read on the actor's Instagram account.

Rapper Ty gained popularity in 2003 with his album «Upward», very well received by the general public. He was notably nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2004 alongside international stars like Amy Winehouse and the group The Strees. He continued his career releasing three other albums and worked with rappers and hip-hop stars like De La Soul and Roots Manuva.
